Hello everyone, and happy Ball Season to all of our SLMBA families!
What an exciting week. The sun is shining, the diamonds are open, teams are back on the fields, and baseball season is officially here. It feels great to see everyone out enjoying the start of another amazing year.
We are still looking for one more 9U Division coach.
If you’re able to help, please reach out as soon as possible to Josh at 9U_baseball@sylvanlakeminorball.ca.
The Rally Cap and 9U season begins next week, so this is time-sensitive. Please share with anyone who might be interested, all experience levels are welcome. What matters most is enthusiasm and a willingness to support our players.
Divisional Updates for 2026
Our 2nd Annual 9U Shoreline Showdown Tournament will take place July 4-5, 2026.
The Big Summer Swing Baseball Tournament is unfortunately cancelled this season due to lack of available volunteers.
Rally Cap - 8 Teams
We’re kicking off the season with fresh ideas from our new Rally Cap Director, Michelle. has been sharing updates throughout the week, and there are lots of fun changes coming for our youngest players.
9U Division - 4 Teams
Our 9U program is strong again this year, with our Development Director Josh leading the way. We are currently in need of a 9U Director for the 2027 season.
9U Advanced - 1 Team
This program continues to grow and strengthen. Several neighboring communities are now following the same model, which is exciting to see! These guys have already hosted their first game here! ??
11U-18U A Division - 9 Teams
11U-18U AA Division - 6 Teams
That brings us to 28 teams in Sylvan Lake for the 2026 season, something we can all be proud of. 👏🏻 300 players ages 4 to 19 are wearing SLMBA colors. That’s an increase from last season, and the growth just keeps coming. It’s incredible to see, and it also brings me to something important.
We need more people on the SLMBA Board
You’ve heard us ask before, because it truly matters. Many members of the board are currently juggling multiple roles to keep everything moving. The truth is simple: the more people we have on the board, the stronger we are as an association.
If you’ve ever wondered how things work behind the scenes, how decisions are made, how programs grow, how we make sure every kid gets the chance to play, this is your opportunity to be part of it. You don’t need experience. We support each other, and we’ll support you too. With the heavy lifting for this season already done, this is the easiest time to step into a role and learn.
Open positions include:
• 9U Director
• Diamond Coordinator
• Fundraising Coordinator (can be shared or done as a committee - new ideas welcome)
• Tournament Committee (multiple people needed)
Curling Rink Usage
We are very grateful for the use of the curling rink throughout April. The month is always about working out the kinks, and now we’re ready to move fully outdoors. A short survey is available
https://forms.gle/fieaXjgRD7LybZgYA we’d love to hear your feedback on how the space worked for your teams. As always, SLMBA is open to any questions or concerns. Please reach out to your coaches, team managers, directors, board members, or myself anytime. We want SLMBA to remain a positive, fun place for all.
SLMBA Summer 50/50 is officially live! With no fundraising coordinator this season, we’ve stepped away from traditional raffle tickets, but we’re still committed to building revenue that supports program growth, equipment and opportunities for all our players.
Every ticket purchased helps strengthen SLMBA, and who knows… you could be the lucky winner of 2026!
